Not having them. Ever.

What day is it?

wheeeee!!!

there are some things in life which are overlooked... as thrills I mean. One is jumping from a high place and landing firm. Nothing like that to make you catch your breath AND realize your rootedness. Another is being engaged. From the moment I finally asked Sweets if she'd marry me and she said yes I've felt so much myself AND something greater. As a groom (as I'll be until the Huppah!) I'm finding a lot of excitement in simply being with my betrothed, and planning, scheming, dreaming of what our future can be, and how we can celebrate it.

The only trouble is keeping in mind that means are important, and that that is part of what my bride and I must share, too. the logistics of how these plans, dreams, and schemes can be actuallized so that we're still breathing clearly and standing tall after the wedding canopy has come down and the rest of our lives has begun again.

the little sabbath
of our public ring
filled with parents, friends, and love
will be pure joy
a pause in time
for all eternity
to witness our daybreak
yet from that sacred
moment we all will
gladly return the week
to the light of
our loving-kindness
and work to make
the world ready.

Admission.

I admit it--I'm starting to think exclusively about "the Day." Although I usually eschew "typical" wedding-like things and ideas, I have just crossed over into The Wedding Zone. Normally afraid of being viewed as superficical or self-centered, I have decided that I do want to have something special for Don and I to share with close friends and family. We've already discussed the whole elopement thing, which would of course, be the easiest, but is it what we really want??? Anyway, I feel fortunate to have so many options at my reach, especially because so many other people in the world don't. I'm completely open to comments from any of you who have planned weddings because, although some consider me to be creative and organized, most of you know that I do tend to become overwhelmed easily.

Oh, details on matching t-shirts to come...

Double Oh...Monkey is cute!

howling at the streetlamps - its

Well, hanging upside down in trees and sucking on bananas has finally given me courage to try something new... a blog post!
Sweets and I made lists last night and thought about what kinda shindig we wanted to throw for ourselves. We found nothing conclusive, but have begun to, shall we say, include some possibilities. It sounds like we'll have tableclothes, in any event. And I will probably be dressed in white. and its looking sooner than later, which makes me happy.

Who we are.

Hi - Don (Monkey) and Julie (Sweet) here. We've started a blog about our upcoming nuptuals. Yes, it is a dirty word, isn't it?? Anyway, this is just a test post, but expect to see a lot more as we plan our big day. Cliché? Methinks not!
